Somebody rang up saying they were from BT’s main office, telling me my internet was being watched because they’d spotted dodgy IP addresses and all sorts of scary-sounding stuff. They said if I didn’t “upgrade the security” right away, my phone line would get cut off for seven months. Honestly, it was one of the most obvious scam calls I’ve come across!
