I just picked up and immediately ended the call.

picked up the phone and after a bit of silence, someone with an indian accent said, "hello, this is the tech team from bt". it sounded dodgy because the call seemed local but wasnt actually from the uk. we never got in touch with bt, so i just ended the call.
