It’s gotta be a Friday thing or something. These callers are just awful. HMRC, they don’t ring you up out of the blue saying you owe cash. They always send letters first, and even then, you have to be careful. If you’re in doubt, show the letters to your bank or pop into Citizens Advice for some guidance. But seriously, never hand over your bank info on a call - no matter what they say!

HMRC never got told about the money I sent, and it looks like Inland Revenue didn’t properly inform them, probably on purpose.
