I keep receiving dodgy calls from what sounds like an Indian call centre, purporting to be representatives of O2. They’re trying to entice me with some so-called reductions on my monthly charges. It’s infuriating!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from Vodafone. When I questioned why she kept saying she was with different companies on each call, she just ended the call straight away!

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from EE. She was fishy, so I just blocked her straight away. Noticed her number was a close match, ending in 173 or something like that.

These scammers acted like they were from Vodafone, not realising I’m actually not with Vodafone at all. Honestly, such clueless fraudsters!

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were with O2 offering me a deal to lower my bill. But I figured it wasn’t genuine when he asked if I was an O2 customer - surely a real rep would already know that info before calling. Felt like a dodgy sales pitch to me.

Got a call from a lady with an Indian or Pakistani accent saying she worked for Vodafone and was offering some kind of deal. Definitely looked like a scam to me.

Got a call from this number at around 11.50 today, but there was nothing but silence. Pretty sure it's just some dodgy scammer using a VOIP line to cover their tracks.

This number just called me claiming to be Sarah, but I couldn’t figure out where she was from. I told them I didn’t know who they were or what they wanted since I couldn’t make out what they were saying. Then they just hung up.

I received a call that purported to be from a mobile phone company - at least that's what I gathered. The accent was so pronouncedly Indian that it rendered much of the conversation quite baffling. When I inquired about her location, she insisted she was at a premises on Oxford Street in London, which struck me as peculiar since that’s not in Scotland at all! Upon requesting her to take my number off their list and cease future calls, her demeanour soured, and she retaliated with a threat to ring me daily! Unbelievable!

I tend to avoid answering calls from unfamiliar numbers, especially those from unexpected locations. So, I'm unable to identify who reached out to me from Bishop Auckland in County Durham.

I generally refrain from picking up calls from unfamiliar numbers, but this one seemed a bit out of the blue; my phone indicated it was from New Galloway. I'm located in South West Northumberland, for reference.

I had a rather bothersome experience with a cold caller claiming to be representing O2, trying to discuss my tariff options. The woman on the other end seemed to struggle with her words, taking awkwardly long pauses between her sentences. I informed her she’d dialled the wrong number and promptly hung up. To my annoyance, I received yet another call from the same area - Castle Douglas, Scotland, with the code 01644 216091 - about 40 minutes later. It's definitely best to ignore these calls, regardless of how familiar the number might seem. Interestingly, an Ofcom study has shown that individuals are more inclined to answer calls from UK numbers they do not recognise compared to unfamiliar international or blocked numbers. It seems fraudsters overseas are clever enough to exploit this tendency, faking UK caller IDs to increase the chances of getting their calls answered.

I opted not to pick up as the caller was an unfamiliar number, and frankly, I don’t have any acquaintances up in Scotland.

Without a shadow of a doubt, these calls are nothing more than con artists attempting to swindle your hard-earned cash.
