Got a call from a bloke with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from some PC support team. Said there was an issue with my computer. I told him straight up they’re all scammers and to shove it. A mate of mine got caught out by one of these scams - they told her her computer was broken and pushed some dodgy fix. When she said she’d check with someone else, they went and messed with her PC registry and cut off her internet. Proper lowlifes!

I received a voicemail from him this morning where he expressed his frustration with a "I've given up" tone. Later on, when I spoke to him, I mentioned I wasn't keen on whatever he was offering. He then resorted to some rather unpleasant threats about blocking my computer! Quite distressing, to say the least! :(

I just received a rather peculiar call from a gentleman who found it hard to fathom that I didn't own a computer. He seemed to think it was all rather strange! I made sure to assertively inform him that what he was doing was indeed a scam and quite unlawful. His reaction to my words was quite telling; he was not impressed at all!

Today, I received a rather suspicious call from the number 01642878714. The chap on the line claimed to represent Microsoft, though his thick accent made it a tad difficult to catch his name; he seemed to have an Asian background. He asserted that he’d been keeping tabs on my computer and, when I probed further about how he managed this, he mentioned it was via my IP address. He then urged me to hop on my computer so we could chat more about it. I told him I was too busy and hung up. Honestly, I can’t stand these types of calls; I seem to be inundated with them recently, and it feels like a bit of a con to me. I wish these guys would find something worthwhile to do and let people get on with their lives. - Caller: Claimed to be from Microsoft

I quickly figured out that this was a dodgy call right from the off, so I thought I’d have a bit of fun with it. The chap on the other end claimed to be from Microsoft - how original! Then, about ten minutes in, I casually dropped that I actually use an Apple product. His response? He suddenly claimed to represent Apple as well! When I pressed him on who he worked for, he mentioned a Mr Abdul, who was supposedly the big boss over at Apple. That quickly morphed into Alvin Edwards, and in the end, he had the audacity to call me a clueless woman who didn’t know her computer from her elbow and insisted he could block my device. What a laugh!

Greetings! Earlier today, around half past nine, I received a rather dodgy call from the number mentioned. Upon checking your website, I discovered it to be a scam. An individual with an Indian accent informed me that my computer (I'm currently on my Kindle) had been compromised, and I would need to fork out money to Microsoft for a fix. He even mentioned the BBC was involved in this, which piqued my interest. So, I hopped over to the BBC's official site only to uncover it was all a sham. I pressed him for answers, questioning why I hadn't encountered any issues before, and he kept blaming it on pop-ups. I challenged his story repeatedly, but he seemed to have a scripted response for everything. In the end, I called him out on his antics, saying I believed he was just pulling my leg, and promptly ended the call. Oh, and I must mention, he kept regurgitating the same lines time and time again! The caller ID was: 01642 878742.

Phone number: 01642878714 - A man with an Asian accent started speaking really fast, saying my computer was hacked! Loads of dodgy callers keep ringing me nonstop. The worst part is, companies are giving away your info whenever you make a purchase these days. Like others, I felt a bit iffy but stupidly played along. I expected them to ask for cash eventually, but then they threatened to report me (to someone I’ve never heard of or cared about) for using a computer with an expired licence. Just another classic example of those pesky scam phone calls that seem to plague everyone these days. I received a couple of them yesterday (the 10th of June) and, after doing a bit of digging, I decided to entertain one of the calls today for around 15 minutes. Eventually, I had to break it to the chap on the other end (who sounded Asian) that he was trying to pull a fast one on me before I promptly ended the conversation. I’ve got a hunch these calls are originating from outside the UK. It’s all too easy for them to fake a caller ID, as I found out the number 01642-878714 is a dead end. Sadly, it seems that both the TPS and ICO are powerless to tackle these invaders when they’re calling in from abroad.
