Got a call from a bloke with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from some PC support team. Said there was an issue with my computer. I told him straight up they’re all scammers and to shove it. A mate of mine got caught out by one of these scams - they told her her computer was broken and pushed some dodgy fix. When she said she’d check with someone else, they went and messed with her PC registry and cut off her internet. Proper lowlifes!

Got a voicemail where he said he was done trying to reach me. But then, this morning he called again. When I told him I wasn’t interested, he went and threatened to block my computer! Proper rude, that. Not a nice experience at all :(

Today I got a call from 01642878714. The guy on the line claimed he was with Microsoft but spoke with a strong Asian accent, so I didn't quite catch his name. He said he’d been watching my computer and when I asked how, he said it was via my IP address. Then he asked me to go on my computer so we could talk more. I told him I was a bit busy and just hung up. I really don’t like these calls, they happen all the time and smell like scams. They should just get a proper job and stop pestering people. - Caller claimed to be from Microsoft.

Right from the start I knew it was a dodgy call, so I just went with it. The bloke claimed he was from Microsoft, but I told him after a bit that I actually used an Apple. Then he switched to saying he was from Apple as well! When I asked which company he was actually working for, he said some bloke called Mr Abdul. Next, Mr Abdul was apparently the head honcho of Apple, until he suddenly changed his name to Alvin Edwards. To cap it off, he called me clueless about computers and threatened to block my PC! Quite the laugh, really.

On 9th June 2015 at 10:59pm, I got a call from 01642878714 claiming to be MICROSOFT warning me about a virus on my computer. I told them to back off immediately, saying this is a personal number and do they seriously believe Microsoft would ring up everyone? That’d be way too expensive, they’d just email instead. Hey, just wanted to share that I got a call this morning around half past nine from this number. After checking your site, I realise it was a scam. The bloke, sounded like he was from India, told me my device (I was on my Kindle) had been hacked and I needed to pay Microsoft to sort it out. He even claimed the BBC was reporting it. I had a look on the BBC website and found no such news, so I asked him why nothing showed up there. He said it was because of pop-up blockers, but I kept pressing him. Eventually, I told him I didn’t believe him and thought he was winding me up, then he just hung up. The guy was really repetitive too. The number was 01642 878742.

Loads of dodgy callers keep ringing me nonstop. The worst part is, companies are giving away your info whenever you make a purchase these days. My old mate had FIVE different people nick cash from his bank account. This was even on the telly, but not a single one got caught or charged, even though they’re based here in the UK. The police couldn’t care less, MPs didn’t bother, and even the Assembly Members just ignored it. Proper frustrating.

This number has rung me a handful of times today alone, between about 1 in the afternoon and half past 4. Sometimes they stay silent and just hang up straight away, other times they keep me on the line for a bit before ending the call with a quick goodbye. It’s not just today though, I’ve been getting calls from them quite a lot over the past week and a bit. A couple of callers even claimed to be from Microsoft, and some calls have come in really late at night. Honestly, it’s starting to get a bit much.

Like others, I felt a bit iffy but stupidly played along. I expected them to ask for cash eventually, but then they threatened to report me (to someone I’ve never heard of or cared about) for using a computer with an expired licence. I said no way, I wouldn’t pay a penny, and if there was any issue I’d just nip to the library and use their computers instead. After that, they got really aggressive. I rang Microsoft myself and was told they absolutely don’t make phone calls like that.

Back on 12th Feb 2015, I got myself the BT 8500 answering machine and got it all sorted out. Since then, up to 18/06/15, I haven’t had any calls except the ones I actually want to get! Honestly, it's the best phone for the house I’ve used so far. Give it a look - it’s about £50 - and trust me, no more pesky calls bothering you... simple as that!

Got a call this morning just after 8am from a guy named Harry claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my computer was hacked and he could sort it out immediately. I told him I already have someone who handles my tech issues, but he started getting a bit loud, saying it wouldn't matter because I got my computer from a high street shop. I replied that I’d look into it myself online and follow any advice from there. He just said, "As you wish, madam" all calm-like. Blocked the number straight away - it was 01642878714.

Some bloke rang claiming to be Patrick Williams from Microsoft over in Leicester. He was going on about some error messages and infections on my PC, saying he had details through my Microsoft Security ID. I asked him straight up if he was getting info from my computer, then he should be able to give me my IP address no problem. After that, he just said he didn’t want to chat anymore and ended the call. Did I mess up somewhere? I never got the chance to mention I don’t even use any Microsoft software or operating systems. Bet Patrick would’ve been surprised to hear that. Poor guy.

Got a couple of calls like this myself recently, one yesterday and another today (10th June). When I picked up today, I played along for around 15 minutes before telling the person on the other end - who sounded Asian - that I knew it was a con and then ended the call. Pretty sure these calls are coming from abroad given the number they show, as ringing 01642-878714 didn’t get through at all. Sadly, if these scammers are outside the UK, there’s not much the TPS or ICO can do to stop them.

Someone phoning from this number claimed to be from Microsoft (had an Asian accent) and said my computer was under attack by hackers. He told me to get on my PC and he’d help me stop them. I asked if he knew who he was speaking to, but he called me by a completely wrong name. When I corrected him, he got angry and insisted I was mistaken. Got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be Microsoft, saying my computer had a virus. I told her I’m not very tech-savvy and needed to turn on my PC. Then I just left the phone nearby, saying every few minutes I was “almost ready.” Played dumb for about ten minutes before admitting my computer’s actually an Apple Mac. Would definitely recommend others try this and waste their time. I kept her chatting for over half an hour. Pretty entertaining, really.
