It was actually the person who owns the landline that picked up and she told me she hasn’t been making those calls - someone else must be using her number! She’s been getting loads of calls from folks asking the same thing, poor lady. Really hope they sort it out quickly, seems really unfair on her.

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent discussing the sluggishness of my broadband connection. When I inquired whether the issue pertained to upload or download speeds, the response was simply "yes," which didn't quite hit the mark for me. Some bloke called me saying he was BT tech support, sounded like he was speaking from India and the line was terrible. Since the number wasn’t one I knew from BT, I told him to shove it where the sun don’t shine. Then, not even half an hour later, the same guy called back. This time, I just let him talk nonsense while I left the phone on the side. He hung up after a few minutes. It’s meant to be that BT and the government are working with other phone companies to stop these scams, but clearly they’d rather make money than protect us customers!

On 10/12/21, we got woken up early by this caller who just hung up straight away. They'd also called us the day before around lunchtime, but the moment I picked up, they ended the call. Proper odd behaviour.

Some time ago I reached out to BT regarding suspicious calls. They informed me that any genuine call from them would always come from an 0800 number. So if it's any other number, it’s definitely a scammer pretending to be BT. I recently got one of those scams too.

I got a call from a woman with an asian accent who said she was from BT. She told me I needed to enter a code sent by text on my phone to verify I was the account holder before she could talk further. When I asked why, she said there were multiple suspicious online transactions linked to my BT internet account. Thing is, I don’t even have a BT internet service, but I didn’t say anything. She kept pushing and wouldn’t give me any personal details to prove she was legit. Eventually, I just ended the call. The same number tried to ring again later, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

This bloke rang me up claiming he was calling from Sky, saying my internet was running really slow. I decided to humour him for a bit just to mess around and kill some time. Eventually, he asked me to install some programme so he could get into my laptop. That's when I told him exactly what I thought of him and ended the call. I wasn’t taken in, but I reckon if you’re not too savvy with tech, you might fall for it since he sounded pretty convincing.
