Got a robocall pretending to be from HMRC saying there's some tax fraud case against me and to sort it out I need to press '1' to get through. I know my tax stuff's fine - I’m PAYE and the company we work for has a proper Chartered Accountant. My dad, who's 85, got the same calls on both his mobile and landline. Thankfully, he’s quite sharp and didn’t get taken in, or else it might have cost him over £8000. I can imagine how frightening and stressful this would be for someone who isn't sure about their tax situation.
