Got a call about some supposed refund for a warranty on a household appliance - which I've never signed up for by the way, it’s all a bit dodgy because those warranties sell them like hotcakes even though they’re not really helpful. When they asked how I bought it and stuff, I couldn’t even give a proper answer and then they just ended the call. Bit frustrating as I’m on the TPS list but somehow they still got my number. Definitely felt like a scam.

Got a call the other day from someone trying to sell me really cheap insurance for home appliances, sounded like a total scam to me.

I got a call from a home appliance company saying I was charged £149 too much for a warranty and they wanted to give me a refund. They asked for my card details to process it, which I didn’t want to give. So I asked them to provide the last four digits of the card they supposedly charged - I hadn’t even paid anything since I’ve had my washing machine for ages. They gave me a number, but I told them that card isn’t mine at all and straight up called them out for scamming me. Then they just hung up. Watch out for this one!

I had a Virgin box installed just yesterday, and out of the blue, I received a call from this number, purporting to be from Virgin Media. They requested that I visit the App Store to download something called ANYDESK. It was blatantly suspicious! When I questioned their legitimacy, they promptly ended the call. Definitely a scam!

Got a call from a guy who first said his name was David, but then switched to Derek Jones, with a bit of a foreign accent. He claimed he was ringing on behalf of Microsoft and asked me to log into my PC. I played along for a bit, but soon made it clear, in a nice way, that I wasn’t interested! Got a call moments ago from someone saying they were with Sky, offering a ‘free upgrade’. I listened to what they had to say and then told them “I’m happy with what I’ve got”. They quickly fired back with “Your Internet’s rubbish, though” but I just repeated I was happy as I am. Then they suddenly shouted something rude and ended the call! Pretty sure this bloke wasn’t actually from Sky. After that, I’m in no hurry to switch to Sky anytime soon!

This number rang me five times before I finally answered, only to be met with absolute silence! I’ve got a strong suspicion that this is just a scam, possibly trying to lure me into calling back to hit me with hefty charges. Alternatively, maybe the “call centre” is just clocking up picked-up calls for their staff to feel productive. I always search these numbers online, and it turns out it’s a cold caller after all. I’ve since blocked the number to prevent any further nonsense!
