Today, the number 01642134797 rang me at 11.51 am on 25/1/24. I don't usually pick up my mobile unless I recognise the number from my contacts. So, I just let it ring out.

This calls totally genuine. It's from YourNRG, used to be called OilNRG, checking if you need a delivery of heating oil. Saw someone mentioned a call from Conquest Energy too - they're legit as well, YourNRG actually took over Conquest Energy but still uses the local name customers were familiar with before.

Got a call from someone saying they’ll be doing local oil deliveries soon and to ring them up if I wanted a decent deal.

The callers definitely weren't Geordies, more like smoggies. I also received a call about heating oil. I'm not totally convinced it's a scam, but I wouldn't hand over any details without being sure. Best to double check and ring the company yourself.

I got a call from a woman talking with a Geordie accent, saying she was from Conquest Heating Oil. She claimed they’d be delivering in my area next week. Lucky for me, my tank was topped up at Christmas, so I told her with the warm weather I’d be alright until winter. She said she'd call me again in autumn. I decided to check the number today, 01525 402209, which made me realise I narrowly dodged a proper scam.
