Twice this week, I got calls that flashed up as Tonga and Nauru. They’re counting on you ringing back, which can cost a fortune. So seriously, don’t fall for it.

I’m with you on this one xx for anyone curious how these callers got hold of your digits. Pretty much everyone who’s got your number - energy companies, banks, even your phone provider like Sky, Virgin, BT and so on - they all trade these call lists to push their stuff. You can buy these lists online by the thousands no problem. Same goes for email addresses and home addresses, they get passed around too. By rights, there should be a checkbox on any form we fill out saying if we want our data shared or not xx

I keep getting calls from this number and every time I pick up, they promptly disconnect. It sounds to me like there are voices in the background, suggesting it's some sort of call centre operation. It’s rather annoying and I really wish they’d stop.

Just got a call on my mobile from this number. The person said they were from some Energy Survey company and asked if they had the right person. I said no and told them to take my number off their list. Don’t really get how they manage to call mobiles from some list since mobile numbers are unique and you shouldn’t be sharing those lists around, surely!

I reckon this is some sort of call centre working for loads of companies, charging fees depending on how much info they get from you. Best not to share anything with them, even just answering shows your line is active, which is their first goal. They notice when you block them and then ring from another number. One number they often use is 01639617422 - if you check the last digits, those seem to be what they swap around all the time, always 0163961 followed by different endings. Stay safe out there, everyone.
