10 yearsThis bloke rang me up claiming he was from Microsoft, saying my licence was about to be cancelled and my computer shut down. He said it was because my PC was being accessed by loads of foreign IPs. He wanted me to note down a number he said was my unique Windows ID. I was sceptical but went along with it, and he then showed me loads of these foreign addresses supposedly using my PC. We spoke for almost 2 hours while he remotely controlled my computer. After that, he tried to push some protection service to stop hacking attempts he said were from Syria. Complete scam! I told him to get on with whatever he needed to do, but nothing happened - no shutdown like he’d threatened.
