Was flat on the floor 'cos my back was killing me when the phone started going off. Managed to drag myself up and pick it up, but they just cut me off straight away. Now I see loads of missed calls from these annoying lot, even though I’m signed up with the TPS.

A couple of days back, I got a call from this number. It was a woman claiming to be from Bright Homes, supposedly in Harlow. She said I’d taken part in a survey last year and won some discount vouchers for double glazing. She asked which windows or doors I might want to replace if I got these vouchers. I asked where exactly they were located and she said Harlow. I checked, and it turns out there is a company by that name. When I queried why the call showed as a local number, she just brushed it off saying it just does that. Felt like dodgy behaviour to me, so I told them I wasn’t interested and would be blocking the number for good. John F.

Got a call from this number just now, bloke sounded like he was from India. I gave him a right earful for ringing me up out of the blue, and all he kept repeating was "please don't be angry sir" before hanging up. Then I remembered this same number rang me loads last year. When I did pick up by mistake, it was from some ambulance chasing law firm. The reason I even answered this time was because the area code is from Newmarket, so it looked a bit local.

Today I got a call from a number that looked local, so I picked up. The person on the other end spoke with a foreign accent, but I couldn’t catch the actual company name - something to do with homes. I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list, so I wasn’t expecting to get calls like this. I just ended the call straight away.

Today I saw a missed call from this number on my phone. Since it’s a local one, and calls to my landline don’t cost anything, I decided to ring back after checking out the comments here first. I figured I’d hang on the line until someone came on the other end. When I called, I got a recorded message in an American female voice, saying the call was important and to hold on - but then it just went to a dial tone. I’m thinking of getting in touch with BT to report it and see if they can take any action.

Got a call from a local number with someone asking for the Mrs. My husband picked up and spoke to a woman who said she'd ring back, but when I called back, it was just a recorded message telling me to hold while they connected me to an agent. I ended up hanging up right away.

If they were a proper business, they would answer when you ring them back or actually talk when they call. Feels like they're just making annoying calls for the sake of it.

This number popped up on my phone and it’s from around here. When I tried calling back, a pre-recorded voice said the call was important and to wait for an agent. But then it just hung up. I tried ringing again thinking my phone had glitched, but it cut off the same way. Very strange!

I saw this number pop up and it looked like it was near me, so I picked up. Right away, I could just make out some sort of quiet noise or mumbling, then the call just cuts off. Tried ringing back and all I got was a recorded message telling me to wait for someone, but then it ended without anyone actually answering. Proper strange.
