Phone number ☎️ 01638480449 👆 is reported as a persistent source of nuisance calls, frequently using a local number to appear legitimate. Callers often give vague or misleading information, sometimes claiming association with home improvement or survey companies, but rarely engage in meaningful conversation. Many who answer are met with silence, muffled voices, or automated messages asking them to hold, only to be disconnected abruptly. Although the number appears local, it is linked to unsolicited and possibly fraudulent activity, causing frustration especially among those registered with the Telephone Preference Service. 10 yearsThere I was, flat on my back on the floor, wrestling with a ghastly backache when my phone starts blaring. With great effort, I manage to haul myself upright, only to be met with the sound of a dial tone as they hang up. To add insult to injury, I've noticed a slew of missed calls from these nuisances despite being signed up with the Telephone Preference Service. What a right bother!Telephone Preference Service10 yearsIt's high time these relentless nuisances face some consequences! What on earth are the authorities doing about these absolute muppets? It's absolutely infuriating to see nothing being done to address this issue!10 yearsTwo days back, I received a call from this number. It was a lady representing Bright Homes, situated in Harlow. She mentioned that I had participated in a survey within the past year and had won some vouchers for double glazing. She went on to ask which windows or doors I might consider replacing should I accept the vouchers. Curiously, I inquired about their location, and she confirmed it was indeed Harlow. A quick check reassured me there is a legitimate business by that name. When I questioned why they were using a local number, she casually remarked that it happens all the time. It felt very much like a dodgy operation, and I made it clear that I wouldn’t be engaging with a company that operates in this manner. I’ve decided to block the number without hesitation. When I gave him a proper telling-off for disturbingly calling me, all he could muster was "please don’t be angry, sir," before he hung up! It struck me afterwards that I’ve had numerous missed calls from this number last year. On the rare occasions I did answer, it turned out to be some ambulance-chasing solicitors. Funny enough, the Newmarket area code is what first piqued my curiosity to take the call in the first place!Newmarket11 yearsToday, I picked up a call purely because the number was from my area. To my surprise, the person on the other end had quite a strong foreign accent, and I couldn’t quite catch the name of their business-it was something to do with homes. I’ve made sure to sign up with the Telephone Preference Service, so this sort of thing shouldn’t be happening. After a short chat, I decided to hang up.Telephone Preference Service11 yearsI noticed a missed call from this number and decided to check it out. After reading through the reports, I realised it’s clearly a scam, so I opted not to return the call. Cheers to everyone who flagged it!11 yearsI received a missed call on my mobile today from this number. Since it's a local call for me and my landline allows free calls, I figured I’d return the call after seeing the comments posted here. I waited patiently on the line for someone to pick up. When I dialled the number, I was greeted by an American-accented recorded female voice stating that the call was crucial and that I should remain on the line - only to be met with a dial tone shortly after! I reckon I’ll reach out to BT to report it and find out if they can take any action.BT11 yearsI received a rather peculiar call from someone claiming to be looking for "Mrs." at my address. My husband picked up the phone, and a woman on the other end mentioned she'd ring back shortly. When I tried returning the call, I was met with a recorded message instructing me to hold while they connected me with an agent. I must admit, I cut the line immediately, as it all felt rather dodgy!11 yearsAfter I noticed I had a missed call from this local number, I decided to return the call. I was informed to stay on the line as all representatives were currently occupied, but then, out of the blue, they disconnected the call. When I tried again, the same thing occurred on two separate occasions. I figured it was wise to raise the alarm about this.11 yearsI find it rather puzzling that they can claim to be a genuine business. If they were, surely they would engage in conversation when called or at least answer when someone rings them back. It makes one wonder if they're merely in the business of making bothersome calls.11 yearsI received a missed call from this number, which appears to be from my area. When I tried calling back, there was a pre-recorded message informing me that the call was of significance and instructed me to hold for the next available agent. However, just as it seemed to be going somewhere, the call cut off. I thought perhaps it was an issue with my phone, so I tried dialling again, only to encounter the exact same situation once more. Quite peculiar!11 yearsI've received calls from this number, which seems to be from my neighbourhood. Whenever I pick up, I can just about make out some indistinct chatter, and then it just cuts off! If I try to ring them back, all I get is a recorded message telling me to stay on the line for an operator, but then the call drops yet again. Quite baffling!11 yearsI've got this number that's clearly local, and every time either I or my partner pick up, the caller just disconnects. It's odd because you can faintly hear voices in the background. They seem to have been ringing at least once a week for the last month. Quite perplexing, really!Submit Your Own Report (01638 480449)
