4 yearsI received a call purportedly from BT, and the caller had some of my personal information-details which could be plucked from any public source. He rambled on about threats to my internet connection, suggesting potential hacker activity. Despite my repeated requests for verification of my BT account number, he was unable to provide it. To top it off, he kept referring to me as the account holder, which I found rather peculiar since my husband actually manages that account. He promised to send a PIN number as proof of his affiliation with BT, yet it didn’t seem to register with him that I wasn't the account holder at all; he insisted I access my computer. It was clear to me that he was the one initiating the potential scam.
