I just returned from a two-day trip and, prior to heading out, I made sure to power down all my tech gear, including the internet. Upon arriving home about an hour ago, I discovered a rather alarming message on my answerphone. It stated that there had been indications of hacking connected to my IP address, and that they would be suspending my internet service within 24 hours unless I acted. The options given were to press 1 for British Telecom or 2 for other providers. It struck me as a bit dubious, and I can't shake the feeling it might be a scam of some sort.
