Received a phone call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media tech support asking if I’d been having issues with my internet. The voice was all crackly and there was this weird buzzing noise that kept cutting in and out. Plus, the person sounded like they were from South Asia, which struck me as odd because Virgin Media’s tech team work just a few streets away, and they all sound like me - thick Midlands accent. I decided to humour them, and pretty soon the chat shifted to security stuff. I suggested there’d been prior attempts to scam me, and immediately she asked how much money had been lost. Got a bit fed up and hung up. Total scammer.
