Several users identify the number as linked to genuine HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) enforcement offices, including in Wales and the South West, involved in collecting court fines or compensation. Got a letter from Avon and Somerset Compliance Enforcement Office, phone number 01633 645 112. I checked it online and apparently it’s been flagged as a scam. Then I looked up the payment phone number 0300 790 9901 and it’s been searched over 17,000 times! The letter looks pretty convincing though.

I'm in a bit of a pickle and could really use some assistance! There’s an amount being deducted from my payslip by HMCTS that I didn’t authorise. When I queried my payroll about it, they mentioned something called 'essentials finance' linked to the number 01633645112. If this turns out to be a scam, how are they able to pull money directly from my wages? I've even contacted the court, but they seemed completely baffled by my situation. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

I got a rather alarming letter that included the phone number 01633645112, instructing me to respond to a court order from Avon and Somerset. Apparently, it's demanding I cough up £527.90 as a fine. The thing is, I've never even set foot in Avon and Somerset! I can't help but feel this is a very suspicious scam, and I’d advise everyone to be cautious with such messages.

Got a letter from the Avon and Somerset compliance enforcement office about a court matter and some warrant for my arrest or a debt of £356.67. Problem is, I’m not owing anything. The letter had a number from Newport, South Wales - 01633 645112. It looked super legit, with even a leaflet about financial assistance enclosed. Proper scary since they had my full name, address and date of birth on there. I’ve already reported it to the police to get them to look into possible fraud.

It's CLEARLY a con! Got messages from hmcts saying I'd messed up with a criminal court fine and telling me to ring 01633645112 to sort it out. Do NOT ring that number, it's 100% dodgy. I've already told hmrc's fraud squad about it. Watch out everyone!

I thought I’d share some insight for those curious about the authenticity of this number. Having checked, I can assure you that it's indeed valid. 01633645112 is indeed a legitimate number for HMCTS. We found ourselves in quite the pickle with a DVLA penalty from last year. Unfortunately, all the paperwork ended up at our old address due to a mix-up. Thankfully, we were directed to file a Statutory Declaration regarding the issue. In the end, we managed to settle the original fine instead of facing the inflated charges. Wishing you all the best!

I got a letter from Nottingham Magistrates Court with this number on it, but it doesn’t seem like the legit court number. I already sorted and paid the fine back in April 2021. The website they gave for online payment also looked a bit off, so I’m pretty sure the letter was dodgy.

I've just got a message that aligns closely with what’s mentioned earlier. I’ve never had any alerts through the post, and after doing a bit of searching online, it seems all the numbers are above board. Feeling rather anxious about it all, to be honest. I’m in the Avon and Somerset region, by the way.

I've just received an identical notice from the Avon and Somerset Compliance Enforcement Office, insisting that I owe £355 for a fine I supposedly haven't paid. I've attempted to reach the Avon and Somerset courts to clarify, but their phone line seems to be out of order. It's my strong belief this is nothing but a scam. I've sent an email to the Police regarding this matter and am now awaiting their response. I can say with confidence that I haven’t incurred any fines, as I’ve checked my driving licence online and it’s completely clear. The last time I set foot in Somerset was way back in the early '80s. I'll make sure to post an update once I hear back from the Police.

I can assure you, this isn’t a fraudulent affair. I got one of those letters, and funnily enough, it was for £811. The email and letter details matched up perfectly with what you'd find on gov.uk. When I inquired for clarification, it turned out to be linked to a speeding violation, as I’ve also garnered six points on my driving licence. They advised me not to lose sleep over it just yet, mentioning that they were in the midst of arranging a deduction from my benefits.

I've just received a rather official-looking letter requesting the sum of £811 to be settled within ten days. There hasn't been any previous communication regarding this matter. It seems all too polished and credible, leading me to strongly suspect it could be a scam. Does anyone know which number I should ring for advice?

Today, I had to get in touch with the police because my daughter got a letter demanding £350, yet she has never set foot in Avon and Somerset, nor does she owe anyone a penny. I had a chat with a fraud officer and they confirmed it’s a complete SCAM. Just wanted to make everyone aware of this, as it has really put her under a lot of unnecessary stress.

I've just had a rather concerning voicemail from this number urging me to call another number, mentioning a reference: 18016150c. I’ve recently received a letter demanding £350 from the "Avon and Somerset Compliance Enforcement Office", and it seems they are still up to their old tricks. It’s quite evident that the genuine CEO of A+S is impossible to reach by either phone or email, likely because so many others have been ringing in regarding similar communications. Hello there,
I recently received a correspondence from the compliance enforcement office in Avon and Somerset, claiming that I owe a sum of £1422.50. The thing is, I’ve never resided in that area, nor have I ever visited it. The letter is rather vague and doesn’t specify what the alleged fine pertains to. This raises a few red flags for me-is this potentially a scam? As it’s Saturday, I’m unable to reach anyone for clarification.

So, I shot off a message to my 15-year-old daughter, letting her know she’s got an outstanding fine to settle. She’s busy with her exams at school, so naturally, she’s a bit anxious and completely in the dark about this whole thing. I did a quick search on the number, and I’m finding mixed opinions - some folks are saying it’s a scam while others insist it’s associated with the court. Can anyone shed some light on this? Cheers!

I received a rather perplexing letter stating that I owe £313, yet it provided no justification for this amount. Truth be told, I’m not in debt to anyone, which made the whole thing rather unsettling for me. I tend to be a bit naive at times, so I was quite anxious about it all. Thankfully, my partner suggested I look up the phone number associated with the letter, and now I’m left wondering if this is some sort of trickery. Could it possibly be a scam?

I've been getting these texts purportedly from HMCTS, saying things like: "Hello, it's concerning that you've not paid your fine. If you don't act, there will be further consequences. Please ring 01633645112 today and mention reference ......I AS. Div 047." Then another one comes through, stating: "Hello again, your fine is overdue. There's a chance a Warrant of Control could be issued, leading to additional charges. Contact 01633645112 immediately with the reference ......I AS Div.047. Feel free to disregard this if you've already reached out." Honestly, I suspect it's a scam! I haven’t a clue what they’re on about, and I can assure you that I haven’t received any fines. No letters, no emails-absolutely nothing! If anyone else has had a similar experience or has insights into this, I’d greatly appreciate your feedback. Cheers!

I received a concerning call at my mother’s home, where someone claimed that my son was in debt and urgently needed to contact them regarding payment. They refused to provide my mother with any details, yet they kept insisting it was crucial for him to ring them and settle up - they even provided a bank account number, 16003384v. This whole situation has caused my mother a great deal of distress, especially given that both she and my father are not in the best of health. It’s imperative that these individuals are reported before they take advantage of those who are vulnerable. - Lisa Kavanagh

I've recently received a rather alarming letter from the HM Courts and Tribunals Service, demanding a payment of £490. To make matters worse, it seems they've informed my employer about this situation. Interestingly, my title is incorrect as they’ve used 'Mr' and there's a bit of tipex mishap over my employer’s name, yet the address is spot on. Could this possibly be a scam?
