Just had an interesting experience about half an hour ago. At precisely 11:00 on Thursday, February 16, 2017, I received a dodgy call. The person on the other end had a cheerful tone and surprisingly knew my name. They claimed my computer was facing some dire troubles. It's rather typical for these sorts to either feign helpfulness by suggesting you grant them access to your device to supposedly resolve a "critical" issue they've supposedly detected. In reality, it’s just a ploy to delve into your personal information, including sensitive bank details, and potentially leave a nasty surprise that could expose you to further threats. Then there are those who insist they can assist you with your internet router issues, suggesting the need to buy a replacement for a non-existing fault. This simply serves to retrieve access to your banking info for the purchase, or worse, to con you into buying an overpriced gadget that does nothing. My advice? Avoid any back-and-forth with them - just make it clear that you’re onto their ruse. Then hang up!
