I got a call from someone claiming to be StepChange, the debt advice charity, but honestly, it felt like a scam. They said my name and sounded like they were calling from a call centre, but they had no clue I’d already spoken to the real charity loads of times. I even told them about my mental health struggles with the proper StepChange people. If you’ve reached out to StepChange and then get a call from this number, be careful. Don’t hand over any personal details, especially your bank info. Legit debt advice places don’t need that from you.
