this was pretty much like what everyone else has said. an indian lady called and said the same thing as the others. when i asked her how i could be sure she was really from bt, she just hung up on me. bt really needs to be made aware so they can stop these scammers before they trick someone who’s legit. the number she called from was 01629741023.

I've had three calls from this number since 7 AM today, and every time I picked up, they just disconnected. I've looked into it a bit and stumbled across this site to share my experience. Got a call from 01179741146 yesterday, bloke said he was ringing from BT but I just ended the call straight away. Then today, the number 01629741023 showed up and this time the guy claimed to be from Openreach. Same thing happened, I put the phone down. They never asked for my name so I figured it was some dodgy scam.

Got a call from a woman with a Danish accent about my BT broadband. The moment I asked her what it was regarding, she just ended the call.

Spoke to this indian guy who was actually quite polite on the phone. I didn’t hold back and asked him why he didn’t just find a proper job instead of trying to scam old folks. Then I went on to ask if his mum and dad were proud of what he’s doing. He told me yes, they are!

Received yet another call today from someone claiming to be from BT, supposedly addressing issues with my internet connection.
However, I'm not even a BT customer, and my internet's functioning just fine. I told them to cease their calls, and they simply hung up on me. This is rather absurd, as I had a similar call from the number 01179741146 just yesterday!

I got a call from this number, sounded like an Indian accent. The person claimed to be from BT Openreach and said someone was stealing my WiFi from outside my house. They asked me to turn on my laptop and type ‘eventvwr’ into the run box, then press ok. I told them I wasn’t comfortable messing with my laptop for someone I couldn’t fully verify was really from BT. I asked if they could send an engineer over with an ID badge instead. They just hung up on me!

Had a hard time getting what he was saying cos his accent was super strong, so he slowed his speech like he thought I was daft, but still no clue what he was on about. Managed to pick up the word internet just before he ended the call. They rang again but just cut off as soon as I picked up. I'm on the TPS list but they keep calling anyway, absolute pain!
