A bloke calling himself ‘Steve’ rang me saying he was from BT Openreach. He said my internet had been slow recently and wanted to have a look. I told him I wasn’t convinced he was legit. Then he offered to read a number off the back of my router and asked me to go check it while he read it out. I was about to explain why I couldn’t do that just then, and he hung up on me. It’s been a couple of hours now and no sign of a callback. Could be genuine, but I’m not sure. I'll probably let BT know about it just in case.
