Got a call from a bloke claiming he was with BT Openreach, which I knew was bull. Called him out straight away on being a scammer and he just ended the call.

Sounds like a call centre using automated dialling. When I picked up, no one was there. I've had nonstop scam calls pretending to be from Amazon Prime before, always from different numbers, so this one probably fits the pattern too.
