I received a rather peculiar phone call today, on the 12th of December, 2023. The caller addressed me by name, introducing himself as Jason, but when he mentioned his company, I simply couldn’t make it out. His pronunciation was spot on until that moment, but then it was as if he suddenly decided to mumble at lightning speed. I requested him to clarify which company he claimed to represent, yet once again he rushed through it, rendering it unintelligible. I found myself exasperated as I blurted out that I had no idea who he was or what he was on about. He then had the audacity to respond, "You'll know if you let me explain." Well, that was the last straw; I firmly told him where he could go. It seems there’s a bit of a trend with these calls, where they deliberately garble their speech at critical junctures, likely banking on the hope that you'll let it slide rather than confront them about their nonsensical chatter.

I didn’t receive any voicemail from this number.

I received a call related to life insurance from a company called Parliamentary Protect or something along those lines. I made it clear to them that I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service and instructed them not to ring me again. I've now gone ahead and blocked the number.

I’m quite certain this call was dodgy - they inquired if they were speaking to someone named Melvyn. I replied with a no and ended the conversation. I've since blocked their number - it’s always best to err on the side of caution!
