A call came through purporting to be from Virgin Media's tech support team. They siphoned off £400 from my wife's account using a dodgy app on her phone. The chap identified himself as Alex Williams, claiming to be a manager, though his accent was distinctly Indian. My wife, whose grasp of English isn't the best, couldn’t pick up on it, but the moment I got home from work and overheard her conversation, I sensed something was off. As soon as I engaged with him, it was crystal clear this was a scam. We need to track this bloke down, strip him of what he's stolen, and see him behind bars where he belongs.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media, saying my internet wasn’t working properly and that I was due a refund. They told me to contact my bank because they’d supposedly sent me £404 and some change. When I rang my bank, they said nothing had been deposited and ended up blocking my card and online access. Later, the same people rang back saying they’d connect me with the person I’d spoken to earlier, but when they asked if I used online banking and I said no, they just hung up on me. I’m now unsure if this is something I should report to the police or not.

I received a rather dodgy call from someone with an unmistakable Asian accent, claiming they were with 'Windows' and needed to discuss a supposed security problem with my computer. I firmly told them to hop back on their little banana boat and shove off! It was clear they weren't pleased, as I could still hear their grumbling even after I hung up. What a bunch of numpties!

No message left, just rang and hung up.

Received a call from (01625) 617742, claiming to be from Microsoft. When I mentioned I was speaking to a UK scam buster and that the call was being recorded, the person just hung up straight away. Definitely sounded like a scam.

Got a call with no one saying a word before they just cut off. When I manage to catch them on the line, I reckon I’ll pull a bit of an old bloke move. Probably ask if they've noticed my missing cat, you know, to sound all worried. Then I'll probably pretend I need the loo, maybe even take the cordless with me so they get the full effect of the bathroom theme tune.

Picked up the phone, but ended the call straight away. They've been blocked now.

I called the number back and a bloke picked up, he had a local accent. He told me his phone must have been dialing out to random people by mistake!

Got a call saying we apparently owe them £150 for kitchen stuff, but the address they mentioned was our old place from like 5 years ago. I asked them to just send a cheque instead, then suddenly they offered £200 if I gave them my bank details. Told the bloke to jog on and he just hung up on me.

When I answered the phone, I stayed silent but could easily make out the noise of a call centre happening in the background.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, but it felt like a total scam. Beware, they were just trying to trick me.
