I got a message from this number claiming I had missed a call, stating it was a free Call Alert from O2. The funny thing is, my phone never rang, and there are no signs of a missed call at all.

This isn't the first time I've experienced something like this; I've been inundated with similar messages lately, most of which seem to come from mobile numbers.

I got a message saying I had a missed call from this number. Received a text from 01625 448994 (SMS/MMS) stating: “You’ve missed a call from me on ‘date and time’. This is a complimentary Call Alert from O2. If you wish to opt-out, please call 901, hit *, then select option 5 twice." The thing is, I’m not even a customer of O2!

Got a call supposedly from 118, but the bloke on the other end, “Leo,” had a proper thick, broken accent. He was claiming there were problems with our phone line. I told him straight away we’re not interested in any dodgy scam calls.

I received a phone call from a chap who introduced himself as Fred, supposedly representing 118.com. To be honest, I find it rather hard to believe that he was genuinely named Fred or actually hails from that company, especially since I can't seem to find any trace of 118.com anywhere. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!
