A nice woman called Louise, who didn’t sound Cheshire at all, rang me about my PPI claim. Apparently they managed to get me back over £12,000 that I’d overpaid and even recovered 60p that a bully nicked from me at school in ’75 (with interest it came to more than a quid). Now I’m supposedly reclining on a beach in the Dominican Republic, sipping a chilly pina colada and unfortunately coming down with campylobacter. I’m wondering if Louise could help me take the holiday firm to court. Wait, hang on - that was all in my head. They’re just pesky scam callers.

It's rather baffling why they choose to ring rather than actually engage in conversation when they pick up. One would think these people are compensated for each call they make! Instead, they seem to lose their wits and hang up before I can even manage a polite 'jog on', which is quite infuriating!

I reckon it’s some sort of PPI scam, to be honest. I receive at least one of these calls weekly. I don’t have the foggiest idea who might be calling me from Macclesfield, so I just ignore it. They never bother to leave a voicemail, which makes me think if it was genuinely important, they’d surely ring back. So, I'd say it's safe to dismiss them!

Got a call on my mobile but I just ignored it. Later, I rang back from my work phone with 141 and someone picked up, loads of noise in the background, said "Hi, this is Sophie from LFS, how can I assist you?" Didn't recognise the name so I ended the call. I've blocked the number now on my iPhone.

Usually, I just let these calls ring out but once I picked up and left the phone on my desk so they were basically talking to no one. This time, some lad asked for Mr Somebody, which ain't me and it's my own phone. I simply told him “wrong number mate” and when he kept chatting away, I just cut him off. They always ask for some Mr or Mrs Somebody and when you say wrong number, they start firing questions at you. Can't believe they reckon this sales tactic does any good.
