No worries, it’s just the DWP folks. If you don’t fancy ringing them or keep getting cut off, just hang on for the letter and then you can respond when it arrives.

Received a text warning me my benefits might be at risk if I don't call back that number. Rang it loads of times, probably more than 50, but all I got was ringing for like 4 minutes before the call just ended. Not sure what’s going on with it.

Got a text saying they’d sent me a letter, but it never showed up. Tried calling them loads of times - sometimes it just rings then says unavailable, other times the line’s busy non-stop. Totally frustrating!

I kept ringing that number a few times. Most of the time it was just a busy tone, but once or twice it actually rang before I got a message saying "not available".

I kept trying the number but it was either busy or went straight to some answer machine that said no message available. I then looked up an email linked to it and sent a message, but got back an automated response from the Postmaster General saying the domain doesn't exist. Very frustrating!

Received a message claiming to be from the DWP, but when I tried ringing them back, no one picked up. Feels a bit fishy, could it be a scam?

A week ago, i got a text from this number and ive been trying to call back but everytime it either rings and then goes to engaged or just keeps ringing before cutting off with a message saying ‘this person cant take your calls’. Anyone know if this is legit? Im also trying to reach another dwp number to check things out.

Got a message from this number earlier, tried calling back but couldn’t get through. They said I should ring them because they’ve sent a letter that might affect my benefits. Bit worried about it now.

This number really does belong to the DWP, so no need to freak out. They're probably just checking up on why you missed an appointment.

I got a message from 01623689292 as well but when I tried calling back there was no reply or busy tone. Can anyone confirm if that’s actually a legitimate DWP number or some kind of scam? Need some advice please.

Had my phone ring, then it just went dead, sometimes it even sounds like it's busy for a second or two. Quite odd really.

Didn't get a ring at all, just received a text warning me to call them back today or else my benefits might get stopped. Funny thing is, I was at the job centre earlier today and they didn’t mention any of this to me.

Got a letter telling me my payments were gonna be stopped, and it said to ring this number. I tried calling but it just kept ringing then went dead. How are we meant to sort this if the number isn’t right? Proper frustrating!

Just a quick update - I've successfully managed to connect with the DWP and discovered something rather surprising: it turns out that the number everyone has been trying to call is, in fact, their fax line! However, I've managed to obtain a different number that will actually put you in touch with the relevant folks on the other end: It’s 0800 028 3037. This new number will get you straight through to Maximus/Renaisi.

I recently received a correspondence from the DWP concerning the work programme, indicating that I've allegedly missed an appointment and must ring this number to furnish a valid excuse, or my benefits may face suspension. For the past three days, I've been trying to get in touch. The phone rings several times before abruptly cutting off. There’s no identification on the call either. However, my letter claims it’s from the "Annesley LMDM Sector Office - Hucknall - NG15 0DZ." When I looked into this, I discovered it’s a specific team of decision-makers responsible for imposing sanctions related to the work programme, established back in 2013. Interestingly, the letter informs me I missed an appointment on 17th May, yet it bears a date of 25th May. Today is 31st May, and their letter states, "we were notified on 6th June 2016." It seems rather odd, as all this is apparently still pending and they claim they haven’t received notification yet! Furthermore, there’s no clarification in the letter regarding which appointment I supposedly missed. I've been diligent about attending my JSA appointments since I started claiming in 2013; there’s no history of me skipping one. If you find yourself needing to contact them via phone, best of luck!

Got an sms from 323 689292 saying they needed to discuss my benefit claim and that they couldnt get hold of me before. It asked me to ring 01623 689292. I’ve never heard from them till today, so it smells fishy to me. Probably some sort of scam. Watch out!

So, I’m in Hereford and just got a call from 08000232635, claiming they were from Universal Credit. Turns out, it’s a dodgy number pretending to be from the DWP. Watch out for these scams!

Back in Hereford, I reached out to the National Debt Line who advised me to get in touch with a Member of Parliament, which I have done. Meanwhile, the Housing Benefit office around here won’t approve any rent support. To make things worse, I’ve just been hit with a repossession order from the Housing Association. Feels a bit like the local officials are out to get me!

Just to add to what I said earlier about being from Hereford and getting that same letter, my local jobcentre told me my Universal Credit claim was refused because they said I've been sanctioned. The only response I got from Universal Credit was some reply that made no sense at all. I've had to rely on the kindness of the women at the parish food bank to get by. At least they don’t seem to play politics with who they help.

Today I got a text saying a letter had been sent about my benefit claim. It said to ring 01623689292 to talk about it, or send a written reply by 06/01/2016. They said the details might change my benefit.

This was on the 22nd of December 2015.

Got a text saying the dwp had some info that could impact my benefits... rang the number and ended up on the phone with them for more than two hours... then phoned the job centre but they didn't seem to know anything about it... left me really confused.

Just got a message saying “We need to talk to you about your benefit claim. Please ring 01623689292, info needed might affect your benefit.” It seemed a bit dodgy, so I popped down to the Job Centre Plus. They attempted to call the number but got a busy tone every time. They also tried searching online but found null info. So, they told me to contact the benefit office directly. When I did, they confirmed they didn’t require any details from me. Bit dodgy if you ask me!
