This bloke called James Taylor, but honestly he sounded more like a Sunil Patel. He claimed to have worked for the Ministry of Justice, then for some lawyers connected to them. Weirdly, he had our old address from four years ago, which is a dead giveaway of a scam. He also reckoned I had my partner’s surname, which I’ve never used - another big red flag. I wouldn't give him my birthday either. Pretty odd scam, really - maybe I should’ve just made up a fake date to keep it going?

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from the Ministry of Justice, telling me they were sending cheques for tax overpayments. Got a call around midday from someone saying they were with the Ministry of Justice, telling me I was due a cheque because of a refund from a bank for fees I wasn’t supposed to pay. Asked me for my date of birth and which bank account I’d be using for the cheque. He had a really thick accent, maybe Indian, and said his name was Alex Martin! I ended the call after about five minutes. He rang again straight away but I didn’t answer. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

Rambling on about how I casually mentioned a nonexistent birthday on the 31st of September, while chatting about my so-called banking with the Bank of Alaska for some dodgy tax avoidance scheme. they called me yesterday and again today. I’ve got caller display and an answer machine, so they can keep ringing but there’s no way I’m picking up. I figure if it’s really important they’ll leave a message. It’s a landline too, so why can’t the authorities just put a stop to these calls? I’m signed up with the TPS but honestly, it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

This morning, around half eleven, I received a call from a woman sporting an eastern accent, claiming to be from the Department of Justice. She mentioned something about a cheque I was due due to an overpayment on my bank charges. When she requested my date of birth, I became quite wary and questioned her identity. She repeated her request for my DOB, but I stood my ground and declined to share it. I expressed my suspicions about her legitimacy, and after a moment of silence, she simply hung up. It left me feeling rather uneasy, to say the least.

I've received a total of five phone calls from this number over the past week and a bit. Each time, they insist they're trying to reach Miss Squire, and it's either in a rather thick Indian accent or something quite hard to decipher, maybe Eastern European. They keep going on about some claim that’s supposedly being sent to my flat, which isn't even the right one-so I've not divulged any personal info to them. Whenever I've asked for more details about what this is all about, they abruptly hang up. The caller ID just says "Claims". Quite the nuisance, really!

I received a call from a chappy claiming to be with the Department of Justice (which, by the way, doesn't exist) saying a cheque was on its way to me for funds owed by my bank. When I pressed him for my address details and which bank he was referring to, he conveniently ended the conversation without answering. Clearly, it was just another ruse to swindle people. It's high time the authorities take action against such unscrupulous individuals; they are clearly flouting the law!

Today (20th January 2016), I received a telephone call from a lady with an Asian accent who claimed she was representing the claims advisory group, stating it was a matter linked to the department of justice. In all honesty, there’s no conceivable circumstance under which a bank would owe me any money, and in the unlikely event they did, I’m quite sure they would reach out to me directly. I decided to play along for a bit and let her know that the person she was inquiring about no longer resided here. She was incredibly persistent, dancing around the conversation, even asking if I was the son of the individual she mentioned. Eventually, she gave up after her efforts proved futile.

What a complete con! Sam and I were just getting cosy on the settee, ready for some quality time when the phone started ringing. This bloke claimed to be Jeremy Corbyn, asking me to support Labour. I clocked straight away it was a dodgy call - I mean, who even backs Labour these days? I thought about reporting him to the coppers, but then it hit me: I’ve slashed their budget so much that there’d likely be no one to pick up! Instead, I decided to play a recording of Iain Duncan Smith, and wouldn’t you know it, the calls have ceased altogether! Oh, and by the way, Sam's due to pop any day now. - Caller: Utterly pointless nuisance

Greetings! I received a call from the number listed above, and it was a gentleman with a rather pronounced Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from some sort of government advisory team, insisting that I was due to receive some funds, and that a cheque would soon be deposited into my account. He went on to confirm my name and address, then surprisingly asked for my date of birth. When I inquired why this information was required, he abruptly ended the conversation. I've since blocked the number on my phone. Cheers!

Hi there! I just wanted to share a rather peculiar experience I had recently. A chap with a thick Indian accent called me, claiming to be from some government advisory group. He insisted that I was entitled to some money and that a cheque would be deposited into my account. He was rather keen to verify my name and address, and then requested my date of birth. However, when I pressed him on why he required such information, he abruptly disconnected the call. I've since blocked that number on my phone. Just thought I'd give a heads-up! Cheers!

On the 15th of January, 2016, at 11:06 in the morning, I received a phone call from a woman whose accent suggested she was of Asian descent. She claimed to be from a government advisory department, stating that I had allegedly overpaid in bank fees and was supposedly owed a refund via cheque. Just to be safe, I decided to return the call in case it was related to my bank; however, like others have reported, all I got was a beeping sound.

Definitely a scam. I picked up and there was nothing but silence, so I ended the call. They called my landline, which isn’t listed and is on the TPS list.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent who knew my name and where I live. Claimed he was from the Ministry of Justice and said I could get back £3600 for bank fees. He wanted me to give my birthdate but when I refused, he called me an idiot, asking if I didn’t want the cash. I told him to watch his language and ended the call.

Got a call this morning from someone saying they were from the Ministry of Justice on Regent Street about some debts banks owe. When I asked for their phone number, they just hung up. The caller ID first showed as unavailable but then 01623682236 popped up. Just like everyone else is saying - total SCAM.

This morning I received a rather unsettling call from a gentleman of Asian descent, claiming that my bank had funds owed to me. To my surprise, he was aware of my name, address, and postcode. When I informed him that my bank did not owe me anything, he promptly terminated the call! It makes one wonder how such dubious practices are permitted to persist.

Received calls from this number around the same time over the past three days, yet they've hung up without leaving a message. I've noticed others are experiencing the same, which adds weight to the idea that this might be a bothersome nuisance caller.

I’ve been inundated with calls from scammers, ringing me three to four times a day! Even when I confront them quite harshly, they don’t seem to take the hint. I've now resorted to using a high-pitched whistle in the hopes that it might deter them. Let’s see how they like that!

10:40, 8th January 2016 Caller: "Is that Mr ***?" Me: "May I ask who's calling?" Caller: "Is that Mr ***?" Me: "Could you please tell me who you are?" Caller: "We're from the ??? Advisory Group, affiliated with a department of the British Government..." Me: "No, you aren't." (Ended the call). It's crucial never to confirm any details to cold callers; always press for who they represent. They're not worth engaging with, just hang up if you're unsure. After checking the caller ID and running a quick search for the number, I realised they were likely trying to sell something rather than scam me. If it's a telemarketer, my response is simply, "Thanks, but I'm hanging up now." Once, as I set the phone down, I could still hear a distant "Why?! Why? Why?" trailing off.

I received a call from someone who purported to be from a government department, stating they were refunding bank charges. Got a call from an Asian bloke who didn’t speak English very well. He said he was ringing from some Government Department of Justice and that I was owed about £3000 back in bank charges. He did know my name and address and said he was just checking my details because he was gonna post me a cheque for the refund. When he asked for my date of birth, I asked why he needed that if he was just sending a cheque by post. His excuse was weak and he said if I didn’t give it, the “cheque” would be cancelled. I told him I thought it was a dodgy call and then he just hung up. Proper scam.

I received a call today, on the 21st of December 2015, from someone claiming to represent the department of justice. When I inquired about his location, he mentioned he was calling from London; however, the area code belonged to Mansfield. Feeling uneasy about the situation, I decided to end the conversation.

They asked for my husband, so I asked who was speaking. Then they tried to get me to confirm my name. I insisted on getting his name instead and they said something about Advisory Power service or similar. The person had an Indian accent and was a bit hard to follow. I told them they shouldn't be calling as we're on the no-call list, but they just laughed it off. I told them to remove us from their list and not to contact us again. They kept rambling as I ended the call.

Got a call from someone saying "MIKE" in a strong Asian accent. It was like that one back on 17/12/15, talking about money from the Department of Justice from a bank refund or something. He had my address right but the postcode was way off, so I just ended the call. Then he rang me straight back askin’ why I’d hung up. Told him his info was wrong so I wasn’t gonna chat and ended it again. I’m pretty sure I don’t have any bank money owed to me for PPI or anythin like that anyway!

I recently received a call from a lady with an Asian accent using this number, but her articulation was rather poor. She kept rambling on about some bank charges I supposedly overpaid over the last two decades. When I tried to deviate from her script, it became apparent she was flummoxed and insisted I wasn’t grasping the situation (to be fair, she was spot on). Playing around with these callers can be amusing for a little while-especially since they’re footing the bill for the chat-yet it quickly turns into a drag. In the end, I suggested we both quit wasting our time and that she might have better luck trying to pull a fast one on someone else. Honestly, these sorts of calls are an absolute nuisance!
