The caller claimed that an attempt had been made to purchase an item costing upwards of £700, and that my account had been suspended as a result. They instructed me to press 1 to speak to someone further about this matter. Alarmed, I decided to hang up and dialled the number back directly. A gentleman picked up the phone and, upon my explanation of the earlier call, revealed that he had been receiving similar calls and had no affiliation with Amazon whatsoever.
