They seem to be up to their old tricks once more. This time they say they’re calling from Carphone Warehouse. Don’t fall for it, it’s definitely a con - genuine companies won’t ring you out of the blue and ask for your account info.

When I asked where they got their info from, the caller quickly got rude and started swearing, even asking about my background. These people behind this number are definitely scammers - if they realise you’re onto their scam, they turn aggressive and start harassing you. Avoid them.

I recently had an unsettling encounter with a rather confrontational individual named Peter Bell, who spoke with an Asian accent. He presented himself as a representative from Sky Maintenance and insisted that I fork out £120 on the spot to keep my maintenance contract active, which supposedly was about to expire and wouldn't be included in my ongoing Sky monthly fees. He went on to threaten that he'd disconnect all my Sky services if I refused to settle the payment immediately, even claiming he would take legal action against me. I merely told him to proceed if he wished, at which point he abruptly ended the call. What a nerve!

A couple days ago, my other half got a call on our home phone from some number with an unfamiliar area code. He quickly realised it was a dodgy call since they didn’t have any of his info and just hung up. Today, I picked up a call from a different number but same kind of unfamiliar code. The person on the phone mentioned the chat they’d had with my partner recently, so I suspected it was linked. I challenged them to prove they were legit by asking for his name - they guessed wrong straight away and I ended the call. Don’t get caught out by these fraudsters!
