I got a call from some robot thing called Scarlett, played along and said 'yes'. When I asked the person on the line where they got my details from and said I wanted my data under GDPR, they didn’t seem happy at all. Unsurprisingly, the call got cut off right after that!

Just for a bit of fun, I told the caller I'd been in a crash (which I definitely haven't!). Then, the automated voice switched to someone who sounded friendly but was obviously bluffing; she kept saying she had my info but wouldn’t say what it was, asking me to repeat it so she could “confirm”. Honestly, I have no clue what they’re trying to achieve. It really annoys me they keep ringing me even though I put my number on the “no cold calls” registry. What a load of rubbish.

Got a call supposedly from Safeway Guidance about a car accident they claimed I was involved in (which I definitely wasn’t). I asked them who exactly they were and how they got my info, and they said it was some independent insurance claims company and that the info came from the road traffic and accident department. When I asked them to clarify which dept that was, they just ended the call on me.

Got a weird call today from someone claiming to be 'Safeway Guidance' about a car crash that apparently didn’t happen. Totally felt like one of those phishing scams trying to freak me out. Didn’t give them any info, just hung up straight away. Watch out, this one’s dodgy!

What I do to cut down on these annoying calls is to pick up but keep it vague until someone comes on the line. Then I ask if they’re signed up with the SRA. Most times they say yes, so I follow up by requesting their SRA number. They’ll either say it’s secret or claim they don’t have it. Either way, I ask why they’re breaking Paragraph 8.9 of the SRA Code of Conduct. Usually, they’ll hang up fairly quick after that and you can get a good few months without getting bombarded by calls, instead of constantly dealing with one or two every week.

About ten minutes ago, I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Safeway Guidance in Tamworth. He had a foreign accent and it sounded like he’d somehow got hold of my accident info from a dodgy data source. If I found out who they really were, I’d take legal action for sure. Tried to talk me into filing a claim totally separate from my SAGA policy. “Scam artists” barely covers how dodgy these lot are. Proper risky business.

She told me I'd apparently been in a car accident recently which wasn’t my fault. I said no, asked where she got that info from, and she just ended the call right there.
