I received a call from this number, claiming to provide a verification code for a withdrawal from my imaginary VISA card linked to Amazon, which I don’t even have an account with! It’s the same old tired con job that’s been doing the rounds.

Another typical missed call, it seems. I simply won’t engage with those dodgy scammers or con artists trying to fleece me.

I’ve stopped picking up calls on my landline as they seldom leave a message. Instead, I prefer to ring 1471 to see who called and only return a call if I recognise the number. Genuine callers tend to drop a message.

It's rather peculiar – a hearing aid firm seems to be ringing me daily, but I never manage to pick up. The irony is not lost on me, considering their clientele often struggles to hear! To add to the mystery, I've never even supplied them with my number. Yet, when I did manage to answer once, they knew my name, which is a bit disconcerting, to say the least!

The caller hung up just before I could pick up the phone. When I tried to get back to them, it was busy.
