I’ve had calls from this Maidstone number a few times now - twice today and once last week. Each time, they just cut me off after a few seconds. First call I stayed quiet like I usually do, the second time I said hello, and the third time I kept quiet again. Every call ended with them hanging up pretty quickly.

Just got a text from a number closer to Mumbai than Maidstone, sounded dodgy to me. If you get weird texts like that, send them to 7726. They reply with steps to confirm it's a scam. Doing that helps the phone companies flag or block those scammy numbers so others don’t fall for it. Worth the effort really.
