Turns out, ABS gets hired by Sky to do Sky Q installs on communal setups because Sky’s own engineers don’t handle those jobs. Honestly, I had no idea! Apparently, these types of installations are classed as 'non standard,' and there’s a charge for the install - something like £120 if I remember right - which is actually laid out in Sky’s own terms and conditions. What really winds me up is that Sky didn’t mention this fee before booking the install, which seems pretty unfair. In Sky’s own words from their terms: “If the installation is non-standard, you’ll be charged a reasonable amount for extra kit or work needed. We’ll inform you of the charge before starting, and it must be paid first. Installation might have to be rescheduled.
