Over the past couple of days, I’ve got three calls from varying numbers, two with this same area code and one a mobile. The people on the line claimed to be from BT, saying there was a problem with my internet. Trouble is, we use fibre from a different company and the account isn’t even under my name. So why on earth are they bothering me?!

Got a call from someone saying they were with 'Sky' and there was an issue with my router. They asked me to get onto my computer. I told the woman, who sounded asian, to ring back in about 30 mins as I was worried about security and asked how she could prove she was really from Sky. There was loads of noise in the background like a call centre. Never got a follow-up call after that.

I missed their call at 8 in the morning and when I tried ringing back, the call wouldn’t connect. Honestly, I’m pretty relieved about that!

Got a call on Thursday from someone saying they were from BT, told me they could fix my broadband which they said was slow by getting rid of a virus on my router - if only that was true. When I said I wasn’t in, they said they’d ring me early Friday morning, like 7am. Woke up this morning to see they’d tried calling me at 7.40am, but I missed it.

Just had a call, maybe from BT or something, right early at about 7.30am. I’ve seen loads of folks say the same so I went and blocked the number straight away. I’m sure they’ll just try calling from a different phone number next time though! Definite scam, since I haven’t even got a BT phone line!

Called on the morning of 16/11/2019 around 08:31AM, just background noise from a call centre but no one spoke, then they just ended the call. Really irritating for a Saturday morning.

I didn’t pick up right away and looked up the number afterwards. Turned out, they were some really dodgy folks I’ve dealt with before. Never share any personal info with them - they’re dodgy and might try to hack into your devices. Stay safe!

I got a call on Saturday morning around 9, from a woman with an Indian accent. She claimed to be from Virgin regarding my internet. I told her I switched providers, but she insisted many companies still use Virgin’s network. Then she said my router was hacked and I was downloading risky stuff, offering to sort it out. I said I don’t even own a computer and she just hung up on me.

Got a call bright and early on a Saturday around 7:15am, some guy named Alan Watson said he was from BT Openreach. He told me my laptop or computer was supposedly downloading stuff from dodgy websites. Seems a bit off to me!

Got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent saying there was something wrong with my computer. He wanted me to get on the internet right away, but I told him I’d be contacting the Police about it. As soon as I said that, he hung up straight away. The number showed up as Maidstone.

So this lady rings up claiming she’s from Sky tech support, says there’s an issue with my internet. Problem is, the account is under my hubby’s name, not mine! Already a bit sus. Then she tries to get me to sit at my computer and start typing stuff - I just didn’t bother. She asked for some codes they supposedly sent, plus my full name, which felt totally dodgy. When nothing worked, the woman from “Sky” just told me to “get lost” - honestly, what a joke! Proper bunch of muppets that. 😂🤣

So at about 7:46 this morning I got a call and answered without thinking (I'm a woman from a western country - so obviously they should've used my name, not some bloke’s, which is odd since I’m single!). The woman on the other end sounded Indian from her accent and then suddenly started saying “Mr James Smith, you’ve got an internet issue!” I just hung up straight away and blocked the number.

Got a call from a lady claiming she was from some internet tech support. When I asked which company, she said she covered them all - Sky, Virgin, TalkTalk, BT, whatever. I told her flat out she wasn’t, and to stop calling me. She kept saying she would ring again no matter what. So I warned her if she called back I'd report it as a scam. She just kept pushing she’d be back on the phone. Eventually I lost my cool and curtly told her to piss off.

Someone called early this morning, about 7:15am, saying they were from Sky tech support. Getting through to a real Sky tech advisor is nearly impossible even if you actually use Sky, so I just ended up hanging up straight away.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be from BT, saying there was a problem with my internet. They asked if I’d seen any errors. I told them no. Then they said I’d have to get on my computer to fix it. Told them I don’t even own a computer. Then they asked what I use the internet for, and I just said that’s none of their concern. They just ended the call after that.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky, but it was definitely a scam. The lady started by saying my Sky broadband was slow and asked if I'd noticed any issues. I told her no. She then said she wanted to fix the problem and asked if I was ready to proceed. I said no and she immediately hung up. I knew right away it wasn’t Sky because I have their number saved and the voice didn’t sound like a genuine Sky rep at all.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT trying to sort out a problem with my internet. They reckoned I couldn’t notice the issue because I was “just a user”. I let them know I was the one who set it all up and had admin access, plus I’d already done speed tests. They went quiet after that.

somebody rang me on my phone at 07:41 but i ignored it since i didn’t know the number. i’m the sixth person to look up this number here tho. now it’s 09:21 and this number’s been checked 15 times on this site, so looks like a cold caller to me, i’ll probably flag it as annoying and maybe even risky.
