I answered the phone but there was total silence, none of the typical robot noise or call centre background. After waiting for about 10 seconds without anyone speaking, I just ended the call. Turns out this number tried ringing me once back in 2022, but I didn’t pick up and they never bothered to call again until now. Pretty strange really.

People seriously need to chill out here. This is just a proper debt collector working with UK universities. These are debt collectors. I have an outstanding balance that STA International have been passed on to, and they ring non-stop until someone picks up so they can reopen the case. Honestly, I’d recommend not picking up or calling back if you’re not sure you owe the money. Mine’s a ridiculous situation - the company hassled me for 6 years without ever getting in touch properly, and eventually it should’ve dropped off my credit history. You either ignore them or respond and end up paying!
