This woman was really pushy, claiming she'd already chatted to me about cutting down heating bills and insisted she had all my info. When I questioned how she got my details without my permission, especially since my number's on the TPS list, she just kept saying "are you sure about that?" I kept asking for her name and which company she was from, but she wouldn't stop with her sales spiel, so I just ended the call. No doubt about it, total scam.

Some bloke said he was an energy advisor from the area, but I ended the call straight away. Funny thing is, while the number seems like it’s from the UK, it’s actually an Indian code too, so some phones flag it as international. Loads of UK and Indian codes overlap, it seems! One time, I asked a dodgy caller how they were supposed to be local if they were clearly ringing from overseas, and they just cut off. The number looked like it was from somewhere near Truro, but turned out to be Punjab instead.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from a firm that assists folks in cutting down on their energy bills. They wanted my mobile number and email address. I told them they had the wrong number since they were calling my elderly mum’s landline, and she’s currently in a care home so doesn’t require any help. The person pressed me again for my email, which was the moment I just ended the call.

I keep getting these calls but whenever I pick up, there's no one there. Feels dodgy to me, maybe some sort of scam or worse. I received a rather suspicious phone call that felt distinctly automated. While I was in the midst of a Google Meet, I attempted to share my concerns about it. Strangely enough, whenever I responded, the topic of the call switched gears. It began with a pitch about energy services, then oddly shifted to issues regarding damp in the roof, and finally morphed into some sort of government survey. Quite the dodgy scam, if you ask me! To add to the confusion, the number appeared as an international one as well.

Initially, it seemed like a recorded message, but then it switched to a human voice claiming, "We’re your local energy supplier, and you’re the registered owner of this number." Honestly, how would he know that? I could easily have been the babysitter! He proceeded to ask how my day was going, as if I wanted to strike up a conversation. If I was in the mood for a natter, I'd have rung up a mate. Then he began rambling on about some government initiative, all before I had the chance to say anything. I've had enough-blocked!

Strangely, he completely omitted to mention either my name or postcode throughout the conversation. After a moment, he inquired if I could hear him, and following a stretch of silence, it appears he realised he was talking to an answerphone and promptly disconnected. The area code was linked to Maidstone, which is located hundreds of miles away from me, so hardly what one would consider 'local'. This seemed like a classic case of telemarketing at best, or perhaps even a dubious scam at worst.

I wasn't entirely convinced this was an actual person on the other end; they seemed to be reciting something rather than having a genuine conversation. When the chat shifted to the topic of dampness in the roof, he began asking if I was still able to hear him. At that point, I decided to hang up and add him to my blocked list.
