Some bloke said he was an energy advisor from the area, but I ended the call straight away. Funny thing is, while the number seems like it’s from the UK, it’s actually an Indian code too, so some phones flag it as international. Loads of UK and Indian codes overlap, it seems! One time, I asked a dodgy caller how they were supposed to be local if they were clearly ringing from overseas, and they just cut off. The number looked like it was from somewhere near Truro, but turned out to be Punjab instead.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from a firm that assists folks in cutting down on their energy bills. They wanted my mobile number and email address. I told them they had the wrong number since they were calling my elderly mum’s landline, and she’s currently in a care home so doesn’t require any help. The person pressed me again for my email, which was the moment I just ended the call.

He hung up after just a few mins, barely making it through his spiel. Bit disappointing, really, since I was looking forward to telling him all about how celery juice, staying active, and pulling your weight in life can sort most things out!

I have no clue who this caller is. The number shows as ‘International’ but that doesn’t seem right at all, since it actually comes from Maidstone area. I keep getting these calls but whenever I pick up, there's no one there. Feels dodgy to me, maybe some sort of scam or worse. I could easily be just the babysitter. Then he asked how I was doing today - if I wanted a natter, I’d call a mate, not some stranger. The bloke called and didn’t realise he’d hit my answerphone. He claimed to be some energy advisor for my postcode area but never actually used my name or postcode once. He asked if I could hear him, then went quiet and after a moment probably twigged it was an answerphone and just hung up. The number’s got a Maidstone code, which is miles away from where I live, so not local at all. Could be just a telemarketer but feels dodgy enough to be a scam too.

I'm not convinced it was an actual person, seemed like they were reading some kind of script. When they began talking about condensation in the roof, they suddenly asked if I could hear them properly. That’s when I decided to hang up and block the number.

Definitely a con, saying they were from Leaf Insulation but it was obvious it was either a robot or someone patching together bits of recorded speech. Watch out! There was even a moment where the ‘caller’ ended up speaking over themselves like they hit two buttons at the same time!
