I rang HMRC to check and they said this is definitely a scam. The person I spoke to had no clue about that number and gave me a different one to report these calls. They said they’d never leave a voicemail threatening legal action either. It’s ridiculous how these scammers can carry on like this without getting caught.

So, i answered a phone call and it was one of those automated messages claiming to be from HMRC. I called the number back right away and spoke to a guy who introduced himself as William Reed - he had a strong foreign accent. He told me i needed a lawyer for fraud charges dating back to 2012-2017. When i asked more questions, he just hung up on me. Tried calling that number a bunch of times after, but no one answers now!

Sounds like a total scam to me. From what I know, HMRC don’t usually leave voicemail messages like that. Plus, when I looked up the number online, there was no mention of HMRC anywhere - normally their website would pop up if it was genuine. The call felt way too aggressive to be from them, and there was no ref number to give back when I tried calling. They also never used my name, which is a big red flag. Definitely steer clear of it!

I received a message from someone saying they were Dennis Gray at HMRC. They said I had to call back or else I’d get in legal trouble. They even ended with a “have a nice day.” At first, it sounded kinda legit if you don’t usually hear from HMRC, but as soon as I searched “Dennis Gray HMRC” online it was obvious a scam. Hope nobody ends up getting tricked by this!

Got a voicemail that sounded quite scary, said something about the office of Dennis Quay and if I didn't ring back or have my lawyer contact them, I might be in big trouble legally. I called the number back and an Asian guy picked up. When I asked who he was, he said HMRC. I told him that normally they write letters and I shouldn't be getting calls like this. Right after that, he just hung up on me.

Received a call earlier today from this number. The bloke on the line was really intimidating, claiming I owed HMRC more than £3,000 for some kind of tax fraud. He kept repeating himself, saying I’d better get a lawyer or I'd end up in court. He insisted it was unpaid tax from my job. When I asked him to name my employer, he just hung up straight away. I picked up the call and it was just a voicemail saying it was important, telling me to ring them back ASAP. They stressed it was urgent and warned if I or my lawyer didn’t get back to them, there'd be some kind of trouble waiting for me. Honestly sounded a bit dodgy to me.
