I've been getting calls all day long, from early morning around 8:30 right through to about 8 in the evening. The person on the phone always asks for me by name, and when I ask who's calling, they say it’s something to do with my pension. I tell them I'm not interested and say thanks before hanging up. Then, without fail, they ring back the following day, and again the day after that. Sometimes there's a break of a couple of weeks, but then the calls start up all over again. I've tried blocking the number on my iPhone, but they somehow manage to dodge the block. It's really annoying!

Got a call from someone called "Jay" claiming to be from the Pension Review Dept at Pensionsafe, asking to talk to the person who owns this mobile about an annual pension check. He seemed to know the surname of the phone owner, saying it came from third party marketing databases and that the phone owner had "opted-in," but he wouldn’t say which companies those were. Also, he refused to share his office address but said he’s somewhere in Greater Manchester. Tried to pass me over to a manager, but wouldn’t tell me the manager’s name.

Like others have said in comments below, the guy sounded foreign and called himself abdul - he asked to speak to my husband but i handle all the money stuff here - accounts, paperwork, computer work etc - he claimed it was a pension review supposedly recommended by the government every year - i asked him which gov because ive had no such notice!! told him we arent interested because i’m the one who does all our finance stuff - he just said alright and hung up - my advice is to just block the number, its just another dodgy call like the rest of them.

Got a call from someone called Hannah I think, from Pensionsafe about my yearly pension check. The person seemed to know my name and where I lived. When I asked how they got my info, they said it was from a UK Pension Holders list. I kindly asked them to take my details off that database and they agreed.

Didn’t pick up the call. Looked it up here and ended up blocking all numbers beginning with 0161 and 0800. Luckily, my phone lets me block numbers based on patterns like “Starts With”, “Ends With”, or “Contains”. I know phones vary but if yours has this feature or you can download an app that does, would say it’s really worth doing. My older Samsung has it in: Settings > Apps > Calls > All Calls > Auto Reject > Add Rule. Hope this tip helps someone out there!
