I just said hello and pretended I didn’t understand English. She said sorry and then just hung up on me. Yay! Fingers crossed they stop calling me now.

This number has been ringing my phone about three times each day, and more often than not, they hang up as soon as I answer. However, I managed to catch them this afternoon. To be honest, I was quite sceptical about what to say, but the caller claimed she was following up on some survey we definitely hadn’t filled out, stating we’d won some sort of prize and that we’d hear more details if we provided additional information. Luckily, my wife took the call and, in her usual courteous manner, firmly declined any further discussion and made it clear we weren’t interested in these irritating calls. She showed far more politeness than I would have and spared the caller from the telling-off they truly deserved for these bothersome antics. I can’t help but wonder if these individuals are part of some government statistics on employment; we just think of them as a drain on resources, and really, they should find a genuine way of making a living.
