Just another classic BT con, really. I indulged them for a bit and they wanted me to look up my IP address, supposedly to confirm it was public. Then they directed me to some dodgy validation site to reveal the so-called issues. Once I called the caller out on their nonsense, she had the audacity to wish me some misfortune and a miserable day! Quite an amusing finale, to be fair.

Got a call today from someone claiming to be BT, saying my Internet had switched from private to public. I pretended to go along with it and she had me check my IP online, then asked me to visit some validation site to see the supposed “errors”. When I called her out on it, she snapped and said she hoped I ran into troubles and had a lousy day - honestly the only truthful thing she said! I could hear others talking in the background, so I reckon this number is just a front for some scam operation.
