She warned me that over the last few days they'd got alerts saying my PC was "compromised". I told her outright she was a con artist, part of a gang trying to rip people off. The lady on the phone had a pretty thick accent and you could hear loads of chatter in the background like it was a call centre. She claimed she was from Microsoft. I asked what the call was about and who she wanted to speak to. She gave a name that had my first name but not my last. I told her she had the wrong number, and then she said there was an address linked to my name. I told her that wasn’t my name at all and ended the call.
