I received a phone call from a lady who, by her accent, seemed to be from South Africa. Surprisingly, she knew my name and began discussing the topic of obtaining unsecured finance using my name, despite the fact that I have no such financial arrangement. Feeling suspicious, I promptly ended the call. However, to my surprise, the caller immediately rang me back in an agitated manner and proceeded to question why I had abruptly disconnected our conversation. She ranted about the importance of what she had to say and demanded to know how I would handle the situation if it turned out to be significant. Politely but firmly, I ended the call once again.

I kept getting these silent calls where nobody said a word, very strange. Then one call came from someone with such a thick accent I couldn’t work out where they were ringing from. They were trying to get me to sign up for some boiler insurance or something, but I told them no and just ended the call. We got a new boiler about a year back and also cancelled our HomeServe policy around then, so maybe they have a list of people who dropped their boiler cover?
