They continue to ring us, but as soon as we pick up the phone, they fall silent. It's rather perplexing, isn't it? Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on?

I have received three phone calls from these individuals asking us to confirm our name and address, which we refused to do. During the very first call, they mentioned they would be sending us something by post, but that never materialised! In the most recent conversation, when we questioned whether they really thought we were foolish enough to divulge our personal details over the phone, the woman had the audacity to say "yes!" She then claimed she wouldn’t be wasting any more of our time. One can only hope this is the last we hear from them, although I have my doubts.

We received a call from the number 0161 935 2124, and after checking here, it appears to be linked to a debt collection agency. Has anyone else encountered this number? They didn’t leave any message when we called back, and their out-of-hours phone simply stated they’re closed and only accessible from eight to seven, Tuesday to Friday. We do have an outstanding debt with British Gas, which they contacted us about back in October 2007, but we haven't received anything from them in the last four weeks. Could it be that our case has been handed over to this agency, leading to this call?

Regarding the previous message, I would advise you to pick up the phone and request a chat with the managing director. It’s quite clear that employing "masking" techniques to gain your information is against the law, and I'm fairly certain that their supervisor would be aware of this breach. Once you’ve done that, let them know you're intending to lodge a complaint with Trading Standards and Ofcom. That ought to get their attention.

Received a call from this number, and they claimed to be solicitors. When we asked for more details about their identity, they just kept insisting they were solicitors. The moment we inquired about their intentions, they abruptly disconnected the call. One can only hope they’ll cease their incessant ringing. It's just peculiar how they identify themselves.

In response to the aforementioned post, dear Anon, might I propose that you give them a call and request a chat with their managing director? Employing "masking" strategies to extract information from you is nothing but dodgy and, I dare say, their manager ought to comprehend that. After you've spoken to them, do mention that you're considering escalating the matter to trading standards and Ofcom. That should certainly make them sit up and take notice!

They won't reveal who these individuals are. It's clear that their intentions are questionable, and I'm not happy at all with the way the person on the other end of the line has behaved. I feel compelled to lodge a complaint about this situation.

We've been receiving calls on our landline from these folks, but honestly, it doesn't cause us any trouble. We simply make it clear that we're not keen on sharing any personal details over the phone. However, quite oddly, they rang our mobile for the first time today! How in the world did they get hold of our mobile number? It's beyond me!

I received a telephone call from these individuals who insisted on confirming some details. Naturally, I inquired about their identity, to which the chap on the line rudely informed me that he had already sent an email, so I ought to be in the know. He kept pushing for us to validate our information, but I insisted that he should clarify who he represented first. He was adamant in his refusal. He mentioned something about data protection, claiming these people needed to verify our address, and I promptly replied that, for the sake of data protection, we would not disclose a thing. Eventually, I hung up on him. Quite the appalling lot, I must say!

BEWARE, EVERYONE! We received a call not long ago from someone who had their number hidden. They claimed to be from a delivery service and mentioned they had a parcel for us. They were keen to know when would be a good time for the delivery the next day. They even had our name but then proceeded to ask us to confirm our postcode and home number! It's rather dodgy, to say the least. I'm amazed they think they can get away with such blatant deception. Quite the shady tactics, if you ask me!

Blimey, just had a call from these numpties! Grateful for this site, honestly. Their nonsensical questions had us scratching our heads; we nearly ended up confirming our identity. Thanks a bunch, everyone!

I believe I've come across a debt recovery agency. They gave us a bell concerning a British Gas bill from two years back, but it seems quite unlikely these folks will make any headway. I used to be in collections during my university days, and from what I recall, they usually don’t pursue anything under fifty quid. They must be in a pretty grim situation to be chasing after these small amounts.

I received a call from someone with a rather harsh accent, possibly from a black region. They insisted on speaking to someone named A... When we asked who was calling, their response was so muddled that we couldn't decipher the name. We explained that since they were unwilling to identify themselves, we wouldn't engage in conversation. Honestly, it felt like the right course of action!

These absolute numpties keep ringing us, and every time we simply hang up. But after reading through this, we’ve decided to respond this time as we now know precisely how to tackle them. Cheers to everyone for the heads-up!

Regrettably, I'm a bit short on funds at the moment-maybe I could manage a payment of just a pound a month? They aren’t even answering my calls, either!
