It seems that I've received what purports to be a follow-up survey from British Gas. While I must express my sheer delight with their complimentary cavity wall and loft insulation-despite not being a customer-I can't say the same for their habit of calling me on a voice telephone. Their staff are fully aware that I’m deaf from birth and don't make use of a voice phone. Communication via email or text works perfectly for me, so one can't help but question why British Gas cannot revise their communication methods to be more inclusive for those of us who don’t utilise traditional phone calls, as stipulated by the Equality Act. It feels like they’re making assumptions that everyone is able to use a voice telephone-frustrating, to say the least!
