I think this is a total scam, and it’s really awful how they target vulnerable folks, mainly older people, pressuring them to share their health info during the call.

I'm pretty sure Energy Funding Service is legit, but the proper contact number on their site is 0300 30 20 221. The 0161 number I've seen around is definitely a scam. They’ll snag your info, pretending it’s for a real application, but then sell it on to others who can use it to steal your identity, hack your accounts, or worse. The letter they sent out seemed convincing too, just like the info you’d find on their official website.

This is a proper non-profit group. They team up with local council-approved installers to roll out ECO schemes for homes. Though their main office is in Manchester, you can get their help all over the UK. The grants and eco stuff they offer are totally free and genuine. Got a letter at my place with no name on it, just a phone number saying I should ring them. I'm not calling back if they try. It all seems dodgy, especially the part about 'qualifying for a government grant between £5,000 and £10,000'. When did the UK government start handing out that kinda money to people? Sounds like a scam to me.

This is a legit government initiative. Energy Funding Service is teaming up with local installers around Stockport to provide Local Authority grants through approved partners linked with Stockport Council. The council themselves are aware of this scheme and it can be verified. I looked into it thoroughly, everything checked out, and I qualified for a free boiler which was installed just last week.
