01618801078 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01618801078 👆 is reported as a widespread scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to offer free 3G phone upgrades or bonus call time, often falsely associated with major UK networks like Orange, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, and Three. The messages typically urge recipients to call a specific number before a close deadline, but are identified as spam or con attempts. Many recipients advise against responding or calling back, noting that genuine network texts display the operator’s name rather than generic terms. Overall, it is a persistent nuisance targeting various mobile providers and should be disregarded for safety.

Indeed, we received remarkably similar information. We're convinced it was some sort of scam. When we tried giving them a call, we found ourselves on hold for a mere fifteen seconds before we hung up.

Massive phone scam touting complimentary minutes. DEFINITELY NOT ORANGE!!

We’ve experienced this as well. As Matt pointed out, if you’re with Orange, just forward any unwanted messages to 7726, and fingers crossed, they’ll get round to blocking these nuisances. You can find more details here: www1.orange.co.uk/safety/mobile/247/252.html.

Absolutely, we experienced the same thing. We're convinced it’s a scam. We called them up and were on hold for about fifteen seconds.

Received a text message like the one mentioned today, 3rd November 2008. Originally had it with Orange, but I'm now using 3.

I received the same "upgrade" message from this number today. Clearly just another spam attempt. Best to disregard it.

It’s the same tale, every time. Just like the previous message with an ending date of 5/11/08. It’d be marvellous to uncover whose hands this number used to be in! Just imagine the delightful SPAM I could fling their way in the shape of junk mail or ringing their phone non-stop! Ha! The sheer amusement it would bring me! :D But then again, I do ponder how straightforward it might be to entice them to assume your contract. I reckon any foreigner would find it quite bewildering, mind you!

This number first came into existence back in 1999 with Orange, although I’m currently using Virgin services.

Just like what Matt mentioned earlier, I’m on Orange too and received the very same message.

Ah, the 0161 code is indeed tied to Manchester. I've noticed quite a few reports of unsolicited messages linked to this number. They often purport to be from Orange, but there's a suggestion that O2 is also involved somehow. To be honest, it all sounds rather dodgy!

I've recently received this on a T-mobile sim as well, and my subscription is set to conclude on the 31st of October.

I received the same message word for word! I'm currently with O2 on a SIM-only deal, so it’s rather improbable that I’ll be getting any upgrades!

I've just received the exact same message, which seems rather ludicrous considering we’ve only recently upgraded to a new 3G phone, ha!

My partner received the same message earlier today, indicating a deadline for sale tomorrow. I've sent the details to Orange in the hopes that they'll take care of it.

I can't shake the feeling that this is a complete scam. We're on Vodafone, but whenever they send messages, the sender shows up as 'Vodafone' instead of this 'ServiceCntr' nonsense. Honestly, don’t bother calling them back; it's just a waste of your precious time! Utterly dodgy!

Just a moment ago, we encountered the same thing! Verified the number and looked it up on the orange website. Honestly, these ridiculous scams are utterly pointless.

Received the same message myself, and I’m with Vodafone (though the number was originally from Orange). Apparently, the sale wrapped up earlier today.

I received a text message from O2 claiming there's an upgrade available for the 3G phone, but the catch is the deadline is set for tomorrow, 24th of October, 2008. It feels rather fishy to me, almost like a scam!

I've been getting some peculiar messages while using Orange. The latest one said something like: "Hello valued customer, upgrade to a complimentary 3G mobile and enjoy extra minutes for your cash. Contact us at 01618801078. Offer expires on 25th October. T&Cs apply. Call to unsubscribe." It seems like Orange gathers these dodgy texts through 7726-simply forward your text to that number if you want to report it.

Our number initially came from Orange back in 2019, although I’m now using Virgin services.
