i got a call from a woman with a thick US accent, sounded totally automated. she said her name was Denise and claimed to be from hmre, warning me not to ignore the call or there’d be serious trouble. the number she gave was the same 0161 one others mention in scam reports. luckily i just hung up right away since it was clear it was dodgy. really thankful this site helps people spot and report these kinds of scams.

My 20 year old lad got a call from them, then rang me to ask what it was about. I told him it sounded like one of those scams. Had a quick look here and yep, it was the usual HMRC threat about arrest and all that. Don't let yourself be fooled folks!

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC solicitor, saying I better ring back or they’ll take legal steps. Definitely not from the real HMRC though.

Got a really scary message from a number claiming to be an HMRC solicitor, saying if I don't phone back there'd be legal trouble. The number was 01618602765. Definitely felt like a threat and not genuine at all.
