Got a call around 4:30pm today from some automated lady’s voice claiming to be from ‘customs and excise’. She kept going on about an unpaid tax problem and said I had to get in touch with them straight away. They gave a few choices for what to do next, but after hearing option one, which supposedly would connect me to the ‘officer dealing with my case’, I just hung up. I don’t owe any tax at all. I reckon this might scare someone who’s more vulnerable and might end up handing over their bank details to what sounds like an official.
