About a week back I got a call from what sounded like HMRC, but it was an automated message, so I just blocked the number straight away. Only now am I reporting it because today I received another call from a different number saying "we’ve been trying to reach you." It’s clear this is a scam pretending to be HMRC. Best thing is to hang up immediately and block any such numbers. The recorded voice was a female with a very typical English accent, the kind used by legit businesses, so it’s pretty easy to fall for it. I’ve flagged it as dangerous to warn others.

It was quite an unpleasant experience, and I fear that someone more vulnerable could easily fall for such tactics or be left fretting over it for an extended period.
