Phone number ☎️ 01618509387 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving automated calls falsely claiming to be from HM Revenue & Customs concerning pending legal action or lawsuits. Callers use threatening or aggressive tactics, often demanding personal details or urging victims to press a number to speak to a “case officer.” The scam frequently targets vulnerable individuals, including the elderly, causing distress. Genuine HMRC does not initiate contact by phone regarding legal matters and communicates official business via letters. I keep getting texts saying HMRC is taking action against me. I block one number and then they ring from a different one. These days, all I get are scam calls and messages left on the phone. It’s really annoying!

My mum got a call from someone claiming she’d be sent to jail if she didn’t cough up more than a grand. Thankfully, she didn’t fall for it and didn’t hand over any bank info. It’s ridiculous how these pests are scaring our elderly like this. There must be a way to stop these scammers!

Got two missed calls from 01618509387 on my landline earlier. Both voicemails said some rubbish about legal action and told me to press 1 to talk to my case officer, but they never said who they were or what the case was about. Bit sketchy if you ask me. I've blocked the number now. Same story others have mentioned here.

Absolute joke of a call from these muppets with zero clue. Got this dodgy recorded voice saying something about “HMRC taking legal steps, press whatever to chat with your case officer”. First off, HMRC don’t ring you up before court - they just send letters and get on with it. Also, why on earth would you ring back to argue with the prosecution? That makes no sense at all. Honestly, I reckon these idiots have one brain cell between them, possibly borrowed from some pond scum or something. Complete waste of time and airwaves, pure scam rubbish.

WARNING! Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC and threatening legal action against me. They kept asking for my date of birth, and I told them they should already have it. 01618509387 - Got a call claiming to be from HMRC saying I was about to face a lawsuit and to press any key to keep going. Naturally, I pressed, and a bloke with an Indian accent asked for my personal info. I asked him who exactly he was after and for the HMRC reference number since he said he was calling a workplace. He instantly turned nasty and said he’d send the lawsuit to the office then just cut off. These scammers must think we’re daft or something.

I got calls from them at least 3 or 4 times, always the same old tax office nonsense about some lawsuit they've filed against me. Honestly, these scam calls need to be stopped, you'd think with today's tech it wouldn't be so hard. BT really should do something about it and stop faffing about. This kinda rubbish really kicked off after privatisation, it's just not on!

I just got a call from 01618509387 - it was one of those automated messages pretending to be from HMRC saying there’s a legal case against me and asking me to press 1 to talk to an accounts advisor. Honestly, it’s obvious a genuine HMRC rep wouldn’t leave voicemail like that, so I knew straight away it was a scam. Definitely best to just block and ignore them. I’ve also informed everyone in my office, especially the finance team, and added the number to our phone’s blacklist labelled ‘Scam caller, do not answer’.

My dad got a call saying he owed £1400 from way back in 1992. They told him to pop down to Argos and put the money on some kind of card. Luckily, he didn’t fall for it and went straight to the coppers. They said it was a scam, but I can’t help wondering if the police can track down these landline numbers? My dad’s pretty sharp and still almost got fooled. Just a heads up to everyone - HMRC don’t ring people up like that!

Today at work, I got a call from these people and I just gave them a random NI number. They were so pushy and threatening, honestly it was pretty horrible. Luckily, my husband and my coworkers were really supportive, or I dunno how I’d have coped. Still, it’d be great if HMRC actually returned the extra tax they say I owe! Like others have said, I keep getting this automated call telling me it’s HMRC and they’re suing me, press 1 to speak to your case officer. Don’t fall for it, HMRC never ring you up, they always write letters first. Also, you don’t know where the call comes from or if pressing 1 will charge you loads or go abroad. I've had a call from this number a few times, maybe three or four, including twice today. It's some automated voice saying there's a lawsuit against me and asking me to press one to talk to someone about the case. I don’t buy it, so I just hang up and delete any messages they leave. I guess these calls can be really annoying or worrying for some folks, so it’s probably worth reporting.

I've been getting calls every day from this number claiming to be HMRC. Today I answered and pressed 1 as instructed, then spoke to some so-called "case worker." Just got a weird call from HMRC, but it was a recorded message at first. I got curious and pressed one, then some guy with an Asian accent answered, asking for my name. I told him to give me his first. He said his name was Steve or something. I wasn’t having it and asked for his real name. Next thing, he shouted some horrible stuff at me like “F*** off, you bastard, hope bad things happen to you and your family.” Honestly, I’m thinking of calling them back and telling them the cops are onto them.

Got a call from someone calling themselves J. Parker, sounded Indian, claiming to be a case worker with number C 2001. They threatened me because I accidentally gave them my N.I number! They said I’m going to court, and they’ll freeze my bank account, plus take my house, car, and shares, accusing me of money laundering. They told me if I pay £1,387 within a week of receiving their letter, it’s sorted, but court would cost me £46,000. I just told them to bring it on and immediately called my bank and HMRC. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

When someone rings up claiming to be from H.M.R.C and talks about all your old tax info, make sure you ring your actual tax office first. I foolishly shared my National Insurance number once. Today I got a call from this number, and it turned out to be a complete scam. The caller claimed that "HMRC is taking legal action against you," and all sorts of nonsense. I've already sent an email to HMRC to let them know about it. If you happen to get a call from them too, I’d advise you do the same and email HMRC. Their contact is [email protected].
